About TDEE Calculate

We exist to make the math of fitness simple, accurate, and free for everyone.

Our mission

The internet is full of fitness calculators, but most are riddled with ads, demand sign-ups, or quietly resell your data. We started TDEE Calculate to build a calmer alternative: a single place with carefully implemented, science-backed calculators that simply work.

How we are different

  • Privacy by design. Every calculation runs locally in your browser. We never collect, store, or transmit your weight, height, age, or any health information.
  • Multiple formulas, transparently shown. When science offers more than one accepted equation, we expose all of them so you can pick the one most appropriate for you.
  • Real-world tools. Most calculators stop at "Mifflin-St Jeor". We go further with adaptive TDEE, carb cycling, refeed days, and other planning tools that actually help you reach a goal.
  • No paywall, no app, no spam. Just calculators. We support the site through unobtrusive advertising.

Our methodology

Every formula on the site comes from peer-reviewed research, primarily:

  • Mifflin et al. (1990) — A new predictive equation for resting energy expenditure.
  • Roza & Shizgal (1984) — The Harris-Benedict equation re-evaluated.
  • Katch & McArdle — Frequency Of Use Of The Lean Body Mass Approach.
  • U.S. Navy circumference body-fat method.
  • WHO and CDC body-mass index categorisations.
